The cars are used specifically for transporting moisture-sensitive bulk materials such as lime and carbide. They were used by the DR in the conurbations of the chemical industry in the former GDR and still run today on the DB AG tracks in the Harz, Frankfurt/Main, and Ludwigshafen areas.The 3 buckets are removable from the chassis.
